I know there have been some who are asking for updates, but there is still a lack of updates at the moment as we are STILL waiting. Last Saturday, we went to the hospital for a routine blood test checkup and we were told a few things:
- His MRD (bone marrow) results is still not out from Singapore. Singapore lab apparently replied that they have a ‘technical issue’ over there, hence the delay. So, tomorrow we will be heading to the hospital again to hopefully get the results and praying that he doesn’t need to do that additional treatment to force his body into remission.
- From the bone marrow transplant donor bank. I mentioned before that there are 2 more potential donors, and Tzu Chi has come back with a reply that one of them has gone MIA, and the other remaining potential is still being tracked down. Doctor has mentioned that most likely we will have to go with the only matching donor so far, which has 8/10 markers and only donating stem cells, not bone marrow.
Other than that, we are still waiting again. Will update again once we have other news tomorrow.
Good news is, last blood test looks pretty good, so Hayden will just still be on his chemo oral medication to keep his blood readings within a certain threshold. Those 2 medications are pretty expensive, but covered by insurance although we have to fork out the amount first and get reimbursed later.
For those who do not know, usually these kind of treatments that are not ‘admission’, will have to be paid by us first, and later submitted for claims. Some amount is not paid by the insurance as well; although not exorbitant, but adds up.
(Sorry took so long to update. Small ones all back to school, so it has been quite hectic at home)
